A Vigilance probe would be held against the officials who had conspired with the company to rob the tribals of their land and disciplinary action would be initiated against them. Title deeds and other documents will be issued to the tribals, Chandy said. He said discussions will be held with tribals and organisations supportive of tribals on the prospects of maintaining the windmills and sharing the profit.MARITIME CENTRAL UNIVERSITYThe Chief Minister said that the Centre had offered to set up a Maritime Central University at Ernakulam if the State Government provided 60 acres of land. It was on last Sunday that a maritime campus was opened at Ernakulam. The District Collector had been asked to identify the land for the project. The Cabinet decided to appoint G Sasidharan as Deputy Director, Prosecution (Vigilance). Chandy said as there had been a complaint that if Sasidharan was appointed as Vigilance Deputy Director, he would be influenced to favour the Chief Minister in the palmolein case. Sasidharan will have no control over the Vigilance case against the chief minister, Chandy said. He said that the cabinet had decided to acquire land for small-scale hydel projects on a fast track basis.Ninety-five people possessing land within the limits of the Perinjarkutty hydel project will be issued new title deeds. The directives in the interim report of the Justice M R Hariharan commission which probed the Pulmedu tragedy, will be implemented quickly. A meeting of the ministers and officials concerned had been convened on Monday. The Chief minister said that the series of tremors which occurred in Idukki district was a matter of concern and the government was planning to take precautionary steps in this regard.
