Ban on bathing at Hogenakkal stays

DHARMAPURI: Due to the heavy flow in the Cauvery at Hogenakkal, tourists were not permitted to take bath in the falls from Thursday.According to sources, due to rains in the catchment areas there was a heavy inflow into Kabini, Krishnarajasagar, Herangi and Hampi reservoirs in the last few days.  The excess water from Kabini and Krishnarajasagar reservoirs was being released into the Cauvery.The has caused floods in Hogenakkal.  As such, tourists were barred from taking bath in the falls. According to sources at Central Water Commission gauge centre, the Cauvery was carrying 58,000 cusecs on Monday.Coracle services have also been suspended.
