Bangalore: The Cauvery verdict may have sparked a row in most parts of Karnataka, but Bangalore’s IT industry is too prudent to be affected by such issues.
Most IT and BPO companies made alternative arrangements while few declared a holiday or rescheduled the shift timings on Monday to avoid taking a hit due to the bandh.
IT majors including Infosys, Wipro, and IBM declared a holiday for their staff on Monday, and asked them to report for work on Saturday to compensate.
BPO firms either rescheduled the shift timings of their employees or transferred operations to other centres as part of their business continuity plan to make the employees feel like it was just any other day.
"We knew about the bandh well in advance. So, we made alternative arrangements," said one IT executive from Accenture firm.
Manufacturing companies too, including automobile major Toyota, downed their shutters for the day. The dawn-to-dusk bandh is sponsored by pro-Kannada outfits and is receiving wide spread support from several other organisations.
The protesters claim injustice has been done to Karnataka by the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal verdict, that came last week.
