RAICHUR: A rice trader from Shivanahalli in Yelahanka, was burnt to death allegedly by a rice mill owner and his son at Manvi in connection with a dispute over the payment of `35 lakh dues.Venugopal succumbed to burns at the hospital. According to SP Shashikumar, Veeravenkata Satyanarayana rice mill owner Pattabhiramaiah and his son Srinivas have been arrested in this connection.It is said that Venugopal had to pay `35 lakh to Pattabhiramaiah for rice purchase.Venugopal had issued a cheque, but it bounced. The mill owner had issued a legal notice to Venugopal and a case was filed in Manvi court two years ago.On Monday Venugopal had come to Manvi to attend the court proceedings. The father and son hatched a plan and took Venugopal to their mill, saying that the matter could be settled out of court, police said.According to Venugopal’s statement to police, the duo doused him with kerosene and set him ablaze.
