London: Over 100 stark naked thrill-seekers rode a rollercoaster in Britain and smashed the world record.

The 102 Britons took on the sharp swerves and loops of the ride to raise 22,000 pounds for a research on breast cancer.

The world record was set at the Green Scream Rollercoaster at Southend-on-Sea, Essex. They beat the previous record by 70 riders.

"We wanted to raise as much money as possible for this brilliant charity and give everybody who was brave enough, the chance to be part of the world record. Consequently, we had to run the Naked Rollercoaster three times," The Sun on Monday quoted organiser Tracy Jones as saying.

The previous record was set in 2004 when 32 people rode on the rollercoaster at Alton Towers in Staffordshire.

The latest ride generated funds for Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation's Bosom Pals Appeal.

Senior Fundraising Manager at Bosom Pals, Barbara Warner, was quoted as saying, "It takes a lot of nerve to take off all your clothes in front of 102 complete strangers, plus the world's media.

"So we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who was brave enough to bare all and raise such a huge amount of cash more than 22,000 pounds for our vitally important cause."
