BANGALORE: As the week long festivals are fast approaching, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is gearing up to meet the needs of the city and to provide basic amenities.In the council meeting on Monday, D J Halli councilor, pointed out that water was being supplied in the wee hours every day and this was causing inconvenience to the public.To this, Mahesh V, additional chief engineer (BWSSB) replied that the water board is preparing to meet the needs of the public during the festival.“As much as 40 ML of water has been pumped from Tippagondanahalli and 25 ML from Cauvery.There will be no disruption in water supply during the festival,” he assured.Opposition leader Uday Shankar requested the BBMP commissioner to arrange for garbage clearance twice in a day on the days of festival.Garbage will be cleaned twice in a day, morning and evening.Further, Gangenahalli councilor M Nagaraj said that the garbage vehicles dump debris on vacant lands.“We have to clean the debris with BBMP money,” he asserted.To this, Siddiah said that a penalty of Rs 25,000 will be imposed on the contractors and Rs 5,000 will be given to the public who inform Palike.
