BELLARY: Three persons died and more than 30 others were hospitalised following complaints of vomiting after drinking contaminated water in Karekallu village, in Bellary taluk, on Sunday.
Though the Health Department claimed the deaths were caused by other ailments, villagers have stated that the deaths occurred due to drinking of contaminated water, which was supplied to the village over the past three days. The villagers' stance has led to suspicion about the cause of death. Since July 10, Yarriswamy (57), Veerabhadragwoda (60) and Tippeswamy (50) have died. The others, who were reported to be suffering from gastroenteritis, have been admitted to Sidaginamola and VIMS Hospitals in Bellary. It is also reported that many more people are suffering from vomiting and other related ailments.
