Bihar CM calls Raj Thackeray a 'devil'
The MNS chief said that the Chhath Puja was nothing more than a drama.

New Delhi: An unusually aggressive Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday likened Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray to a Shaitan (devil) for his controversial remarks against North Indians and Chaath festival.

"Raj Thackeray is like a Shaitanwho has the habit of making remarks to be in the news by hurting people's sentiments and creating unnecessary controversy," said Kumar.

Raj Thackeray did not get any support from the Shiv Sena too. The Sena demanded that the MNS chief should be arrested as his remarks on Chhath Puja have "hurt the religious sentiments" of the people of Bihar.

Shiv Sena activists also staged a demonstration in New Delhi to protest his comments and said if Raj Thackeray is not arrested by the government, it would not augur well for the future of the country.

"Raj Thackeray has hurt the religious sentiments of the people of Bihar, which is an unforgivable offence," Shiv Sena north India chief Jai Bhagwan Goel said addressing the demonstrators.

"Shiv Sena does not differentiate between the people of Bihar, Punjab, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh," he said and warned against "attempts to divide the countrymen".

On Friday, Raj Thackeray had once again launched a malicious campaign against the north Indian population living in Maharashtra.

The MNS chief said that the Chhath Puja was nothing more than a drama and also demanded that the people of Uttar Pradesh origin should stop organising the Bharatiya Uttar Pradesh Divas.

He also criticised Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan of not doing enough for Maharashtra despite living in the state.

On Sunday, unruly mobs of MNS activists roamed the streets of Mumbai, Thane and Nashik and targetted the north Indian population. They damaged many taxis, most of which are owned by people from north Indians.

Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo and Union Railways Minister Lalu Prasad called Raj a 'child in politics' and even advised him to observe the Chhath Puja to calm him mind.

Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, too, came out in support of the Big B and the north Indians living in Maharashtra and said that Raj's speeches were against the basic tenets of Constitution.
