BJP denies secret polls survey in UP
The BJP denies a news report that it has carried out secret surveys to assess its standing in Assembly polls in UP.

New Delhi: The BJP on Saturday denied a news report that it has carried out secret surveys in Uttar Pradesh to assess its standing in the state ahead of its Assembly elections.

"It (news report) is bogus. We have not carried out any secret survey in Uttar Pradesh," BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said.

He was referring to a story in an English daily that secret surveys conducted by the BJP have indicated that the party would lose half the Assembly seats it held now in the state elections due next year.

Javadekar, whose party has launched a high-pitched Hindutva campaign to win back its core RSS vote-block, claimed there was no clear wave in favour of any single party in the key state in the Hindi heartland.

The saffron party at present has some 80-odd seats in the 403-member state Assembly.
