BANGALORE: The BJP government’s only achievement has been in raising the debt burden of the state, which has now crossed Rs 1.10 lakh crore, said Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah. He was speaking at a party function here on Thursday where Dinesh Gundu Rao and S T Somashekhar assumed charge as Congress committee presidents of Bangalore City and Bangalore Rural divisions, respectively.Under the BJP regime, the scheme to distribute rice 25 kg of rice at Rs 3 per kg for BPL families has been distorted; instead, the beneficiaries are being provided only 4 kg of grain, he added.Stating that development in the state has taken a back seat under the BJP rule, Siddaramaiah felt that people would overthrow the saffron party in next election. He urged the party workers to work hard for the success of the party in the next elections in Bangalore, which has over 28 Assembly seats. “We are in a position to win over 25 Assembly seats,” he asserted.Maintaining that all development being witnessed in the state was being supported by the UPA government at the Centre, the Opposition leader said: “BJP’s has only obtained publicity at the cost of others.” Rampant corruption and misuse of power is the hallmark of the BJP government, he said.Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Motamma was also present.
