Say one word against us and we will slap a notice seems to be the order of the day for BJP and Congress as election dates are fast approaching. BJP has filed a complaint to Election Commission on Wednesday against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for allegedly comparing BJP party leaders with "thieves and looters".
BJP has also complained against Congress over "misleading" advertisement targeting its PM candidate Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Earlier, BJP had complained to the Commission on November 18 over Rahul's 'ISI remarks' and said that he was appealing for votes on communal lines and inciting hatred among different communities.
The Election Commission had expressed displeasure over Rahul Gandhi's remarks linking Pakistan ISI with Muzaffarnagar riot victims. The Election Commission advised Rahul to be more circumspect in public utterances during election campaigns. "Portions of your speech were not in consonance with letter and spirit of the model code of conduct," the Commission had said.
Furthermore, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had on Monday had served a defamation notice to Congress president Sonia Gandhi ~~amp;amp; state congress president Kanti Lal Bhuria for "objectionable" advertisement against BJP. A Congress advertisement in newspapers and on the internet which allegedly shows MP Chief Minister and his family indulged in corrupt practices had not gone down well with Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The ad says, "A greedy family has looted Madhya Pradesh."
Retaliating to BJP's move, Congress also decided to slap notices and had sought stern action against Modi for his 'khooni panja' barb against Congress and for saying UPA's funds came from Rahul's maternal uncle during his Chhattisgarh rally. On the defamation suit served by MP CM they had said he was merely making "hollow" claims ahead of November 25 Assembly polls.
Now, the decision to file new complaints against Rahul Gandhi comes one day after the BJP, while replying to the EC notice against Modi, defended his 'khooni panja' remark against the Congress saying it is not derogatory. The BJP had said the remark was a reference to Congress's corruption since hand is its symbol.
