BJP slams SP leader Naresh Agarwal over his 'madari, tea-seller' remarks on Modi

Hitting back at SP national general secretary Naresh Agarwal, BJP on Wednesday said his remarks on party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was the result of "feudalistic and biased" thinking.

"The comment made by Agarwal are against the spirit of democracy in which any person can rise to any level...and Modi is the Chief Minister of Gujarat from the past 12 years," BJP chief spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.

He alleged that to remain in headlines it has become the habits of Samajwadi Party leaders to make unnecessary comments against Modi.

"The SP leaders, who suffer from mental bankruptcy, lack policy, honour, dignity and issues," Pathak alleged.

He said Agarwal should have thought about his own stature before making any comment against Modi. The BJP spokesman said the remarks were against SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's concept of village, poor and farmer.

After courting controversy over his remark terming BJP as a "widow", Agarwal apparently attacked its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi stating that a "tea-seller" can never have national perspective.

"Narendra Modi wants to become a PM. Someone rising from a tea shop can never have a national perspective. Like, if you make a 'sipahi' (constable) as 'kaptan' (Superintendent of Police) he can never have SP's approach but will have that of a constable," Agarwal told a rally in Hardoi.

Agarwal also said the Prime Minister of a country has to be an able person of national stature. "As far as crowd is concerned, a 'madari' (street performer) also gathers it," he added.
