New Delhi: In a span of just three days, another accident on Delhi's roads involving a BMW car has caused hurt to another biker and his pillion.
On Sunday, September 14, a speeding BMW rammed into a bike at about 4.30 pm at the Kasturba Gandhi Marg crossing in New Delhi.
The grievously injured couple who were riding on the motorcycle were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.The car driver's licence has been confiscated by the police.
The motorcycle rider's name has been given as Tarun and that of his spouse as Anita. The newly wed couple are from east Delhi.
The police have arrested the driver of the car.
This accident comes close on the heels of another one only three days ago, also involving a BMW.
A youngster was killed and another was injured in the city on Thursday, September 11 in the accident involving a BMW car and a motorcycle near the Moolchand flyover in south Delhi.
One of the two victims — Anuj Singh who was hit by a BMW car in south Delhi — died on Saturday morning at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where they were undergoing treatment.
The accused, Utsav Bhasin will now be charged under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 304 (A), for causing death to a victim due to rash and negligent driving. The offence is bailable and can get him a maximum punishment up to two years.
The infamous accident involving a BMW car and six deaths at the hands of its rash driver, Sanjeev Nanda in1999 made headlines for almost nine years before a sessions court convicted him.
The driver of that BMW car accident, a high profile businessman now faces a life sentence for his brutal act.
