Bollywood song disrupts Lok Sabha

New Delhi: Don't know how it happened, but Parliament could not have been more politically incorrect on Wednesday when a bawdy Bollywood song on television was on loudly while Lok Sabha MPs observed a minute's silence to pay homage to deceased MP Kanshi Ram.

In what is being seen as an inadvertent goof up, the television inside the press gallery was playing the Suniel Shetty-starrer Annarth instead of live proceedings from the house even as Speaker Somnath Chatterjee was reading out condolence messages for six former MPs including Bahujan Samaj Party founder Kanshi Ram.

To make things worse, when the MPs stood up for a minute's silence, the film slipped into a song with model-turned actress Preeti Jhangiani dancing with a group.

Many MPs could be seen looking around to find the source of music, which rung out loudly in the silence.

Lok Sabha secretariat staff did not have any clue about how it happened. "We will definitely find out what has happened," said an official.
