Booked for giving false statements against DIG

KOZHIKODE: Nadakkavu Police on Friday registered a case against K P Shaju of Parappanangadi in Malappuram for misleading police by repeatedly giving false statements against Kannur Range DIG S Sreejith. The case has been registered under sections 117d (deliberately making  false statement to mislead the police) and 118d (cause  annoyance to any person in an indecent manner by statements or comments) of the Kerala Police Act, police said.The police investigation has been initiated on the basis of a complaint filed by DIG Sreejith on the basis of the enquiry report by ADGP North Zone, who probed the allegations levelled by Shaju against Sreejith. The report noted the plea of the accused for action against the officer on the charge of swindling money as “baseless”, “frivolous” and “motivated”. “Such frequent baseless allegations against a particular officer is only to wreak vengeance seemingly, and is to be viewed seriously,” the ADGP pointed out.
