CHENNAI: Barring the DMK contingent that was not present in the Assembly, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s decision to set up a super multi-speciality hospital at the new Secretariat complex was hailed by all parties, including main Opposition party DMDK and the Congress. Soon after Jayalalithaa announced the setting up of the hospital, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Panruti S Ramachandran said the new Secretariat and Assembly complex was built for mere publicity just like the Arakku Maligai (The Wax Palace) in Mahabharata. “This building has now been put to use... This is an achievement of sorts, which will benefit the poor. The DMDK welcomes the move.”CPM member A Soundararajan said the move would fulfil the need for more qualified professionals in super-specialities. CPI member T Ramachandran lauded the move as visionary. R Sarathkumar said it was a welcome move from a proactive CM. S Vijayadharini (Congress) also welcomed the move.
