Heavy downpour on the eighth consecutive day in the Konkan region in Maharashtra increased water levels in Markandeya, Hiranyakeshi, Malaprabha, Ghataprabha, Krishna and Doodhganga rivers on Sunday. Traffic on nine roads were closed.

However, Incessant rains which lashed Belgaum for the last couple of days slowed down on Sunday, allowing people to come out to the streets. The authorities informed that Belgaum district, which was expecting normal rainfall of 5,614 mm till Saturday witnessed only 2,149.8 mm. This means that the district has about 60 per cent deficit rain.
