Wozniacki, who had never previously reached the semifinals of her first tournament of a season, beat Barbora Zhalavova Strycova at the ASB Classic on Friday.
Auckland: Caroline Wozniacki's three-set semifinal win at the ASB Classic on Friday was no big deal for the former No.1 ranked player. After all, she ran 42 kilometers (26 miles) a few months ago in New York.
Wozniacki beat Barbora Zhalavova Strycova 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 2 hours, 35 minutes, considerably quicker than it took her to complete the New York City Marathon in early November.
The first set on Friday lasted 61 minutes, extended by a sixth game which included 11 deuces.
Wozniacki, who had never previously reached the semifinals of her first tournament of a season, says "I ran the New York marathon last year in 3-1/2 hours so I knew anything less than 3-1/2 I'd be OK."
