New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday got 10-day custody of Underworld don Chhota Rajan in fake passport case.
The investigative agency has begun questioning the gangster. CBI claims that Rajan got an Indian passport under a fake name and reached Australia in 2003.
Chief Information Officer Devpreet Singh said, "The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against an absconding accused ( Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje @ Chhota Rajan) and unknown public servants U/s 120-B, 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 474 of IPC U/s 12 of Passports Act, 1967 and U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. It has been alleged that said fugitive( Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje @ Chhota Rajan) got prepared an Indian Passport No.G9273860 in the fake name of Mohan Kumar."
Sources have told CNN-IBN that the Mumbai Police is upset with the Special Court transferring all Rajan cases to the CBI.
Sources say that top Mumbai police officers have alleged that there is an agreement between Chhota Rajan and the intelligence agencies and that his arrest in Bali was a premeditated plan. However, moving forward, Mumbai police has offered support to the CBI.
After his arrest in Bali on October 25, India had pressed for his early deportation, which, however, got delayed due to closure of Bali's international airport due to spewing of volcanic ash from a nearby mountain.
