HYDERABAD: A 30yearold woman, who interested in doing research for a PhD degree but was allegedly pressured by her parents to get married, committed suicide at Balanagar on Monday.The woman, Ch Sudha, completed B.Sc in Biochemistry and was working at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) at Habsiguda here. She was a resident of IDPL Colony in Balanagar.According to police, she was aspiring to complete her PhD but her parents wanted to marry her off. A depressed Sudha consumed poison on Sunday and died on Monday while undergoing treatment. Balanagar police are investigating the case.In another incident, a 22yearold girl, Balamani alias Mary, hanged herself on Sunday after she had allegedly been cheated by her friend. Balamani of Vinayak Nagar in Balanagar, fell in love with a man from Kukatpally and, believing him, gave her jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh to him as he promised that he would start a business and marry her later. The man fled away with the gold ornaments and also refused to marry Balamani which prompted her to end her life. Meanwhile, Saleemuddin (19), a resident of Roda Mistry Nagar in Jeedimetla hanged himself to death after allegedly being reprimanded by his parents for poor studies.He was studying Intermediate at a private college at Kukatpally. As he was faring poor in education, his parents scolded him, police said.At Hafizpet in Miyapur, Ramya Darshini (20), an engineering student, hanged herself to death at her house allegedly due to unbearable stomach pain.
