New Delhi: In a new twist, the CCTV footage showed that Aam Aadmi Party MLA Alka Lamba and her supporters vandalised a shop during their anti-drug drive in Kashmere Gate area of Delhi on Sunday.
The police said that Lamba wanted to shut some shops claiming that they were operating illegally and drug peddlers had free run in the area.
"Three police personnel accompanied her but she didn't inform the MCD," said a police official.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party hit out at AAP calling the incident pre-planned and under the guidance of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Lamba was attacked by unidentified assailants during an anti-narcotics drive on Sunday. Police had arrested 19-year-old Jatin, who works at a sweet shop, following Lamba's complaint.
AAP leader Ashutosh had hinted at BJP's hand in the attack. He said that the suspect was nabbed from a shop which was owned by BJP MLA Om Prakash Sharma.
"Local people have told us that Alka Lamba was attacked by a man standing in a sweet shop belonging to Om Prakash Sharma opposite where the rally was happening. The boy attacked from there. Local people have told us the shop belongs to Om Prakash who is a local vidhayak. Is it a mere coincidence or a shadyantra?" asked Ashutosh.
