It's a mixed bag for movie-goers this Friday. Read on to know more.

New Delhi: Come Friday, and it’s time for some big releases. This weekend the eagerly awaited Kamal Haasan-starrer Dasavathaaram hits theatres while an animated lord Vishnu makes an appearance in Dashavtar.

Also checking into the cinemas this Friday is filmmaker M Night Shyamalan’s The Happeningand Sikander Kher's second attempt at the box-office, Summer 2007. Also, Akshay Khanna and Paresh Rawal team up in Mere Baap Pehle Aap for yet another laugh riot.

Dasavathaaram

Director KS Ravikumar and actor Kamal Haasan team up for the fourth time with Dasavathaaram, which will be releasing in Tamil and Telugu on Friday. The film made with a budget of about Rs 165 crore, travels back and forth in time with Haasan doing 10 different roles, including that of American President George Bush.

This is the first time that one actor has played 10 characters in a film. The film begins and ends in the 12th Century where Haasan plays a staunch Vaishnavite opposing the removal of a statue of Vishnu. Also starring are Mallika Sherawat and actor Asin in a double role. Music director and singer Himesh Reshammiya has composed the music for the film.

Dashavatar

This Friday will also see the release of an animated film Dashavatar that revolves around the origin and heroic exploits of the 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu. Directed by Bhavik Thakore, Dashavatar features voices of Sachin Khedekar, Shreyas Talpade, Roopa Ganguly and Tom Alter.

Summer 2007

Summer 2007 is actor Sikander Kher's second outing and focuses on the lives of five medical students who are hooked to Formula One racing and video games. That is, until they are posted to one of the most deprived villages in Maharashtra where they come face to face with poverty. Also starring Gul Panag, Divya Dutta and Ashutosh Rana, Summer 2007 also touches upon the issue of farmer suicides.

Mere Baap Pehle Aap

Filmmaker Priyadarshan teams up with actor Paresh Rawal yet again, for a comic flick, quirkily titled Mere Baap Pehle Aap. Akshay Khanna plays Gaurav, who with the help of his college friend Sheekha, played by Genelia D'souza, go on a journey to find his father's lost love. Adding a twist to the story is his father's prankster best friend Madhav played by Om Puri, a divorcee desperately trying to remarry.

The Happening

Hollywood filmmaker M Night Shyamalan of the Sixth Sense fame is out with his latest film The Happening starring Mark Wahlberg as a science teacher in a race for survival. Written and directed by Night, the film, which is deliberately being released on Friday the 13th, captures the pandemonium caused in New York City by a series of inexplicable violent suicides.
