CHENNAI: A couple committed suicide in their house at Ice House on Saturday, as they were allegedly frustrated over not having a child.Police said daily wage labourer Ramaiyya (28) and his wife of four years Nagarani (22) allegedly had a fight over not having a child on Friday night. The woman later committed suicide by hanging when her husband was sleeping. On waking up, he was shocked to see his wife hanging from the ceiling fan. He brought her down on the floor to see if she was alive, police said, and thereafter tied another rope to the fan and hanged himself. Police said the couple had a love marriage. On Saturday, neighbours alerted the police after the couple did not come out of their house.Missing Boy TracedA four-year-old boy, who was reported missing at Madipakkam, was traced within a few hours on Saturday. Prakash (25), working as a security guard, told police that he found his son Santhosh , who was playing in front of the house, missing when he returned home from night duty. A special team identified the boy playing alone in Mathiazagan second street. He was handed over to his father.Robbery at TambaramOver 30 sovereigns of gold and `25,000 were reported stolen from a two-storey house at Tambaram on Saturday. Police said Govindarajan (59) of Mallikha Nagar, Tambaram, a senior manager with a private company was living on the first floor of the house while his sister-in-law Sathyabhama lived on the ground floor. Both the families had left to Tiruchy for a family wedding on April 11. They returned on Saturday morning and found their valuables stolen.
