Childrens Film Festival begins

KOCHI: A children’s film festival being organised as part of the summer vacation programmes of the Indira Priyadharshani Children’s Park, was kick started, here, on Wednesday.  Hibi Eden MLA inaugurated the fest, a joint venture of the District Child Welfare Society and Heart Light Association.  “There is not a single such theatre meant exclusively for children in the state. This will also help to hone their creativity skills,” Hibi said.  The festival began with the screening of Iranian director Majid Majidi’s Children of Heaven. A documentary on director Aravindan by the State Public Relations Department was shown prior to it.  Various international films, including Chaplin comedies, will be run as part of the fest. Apart from the international films and documentaries, films made by children will also be screened.  Literary camps and classes on filmmaking will be held. Well known directors will hold the classes. Deputy Mayor B Badhra, councillor Lino Jacob,  children’s literature writer C P Pallipuram, child actor Yash K Mallavika, director Dev Krishna S Nath and K L Mohanavarma were present.
