BANGALORE: Bangalore-based Divya Rao, a student of Indus International School has bagged the prestigious Ryerson University International School Student Merit Scholarship, in recognition of her academic achievements.She will be studying at the University’s School of Radio and Television Arts.“I’m really looking forward to joining Ryerson,” said an excited Divya.“It’s located in the heart of one of the world’s media hubs and is arguably the best university for my chosen field of radio and television arts,” she added.Ryerson University will be taking part in the Council of International Schools (CIS) Canadian University Tour to India from August 21 to September 2.Students will be able to find out more about the University’s programs of study and the advantages of studying in Canada’s largest city.The Council’s seventh annual tour will begin in Mumbai and continue in Pune, Delhi, Dehradun, Hyderabad and Bangalore.A Ryerson admission representative will be visiting key national and international secondary schools in each city.Public events will also be hosted in Dehradun and Pune.The tour is of special interest to Standard XI and Standard XII students who exhibit strong academic standing, their school guidance counsellors as well as their parents.The schedule includes school visits and information fairs.Of the140 countries represented in Ryerson’s international student population, India is the largest.Ryerson’s International Student Services offers entering students a full range of programming — including a peer support program that pairs new students with current students from their home country, and a comprehensive international student orientation program.Dr Sheldon Levy, President and Vice-Chancellor of Ryerson University announced the establishment of the Ryerson DMZ Fellowship program with the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, while touring India in early August.Students selected for the fellowships will have the opportunity to be a part of Ryerson’s hub for student digital entrepreneurs, the Digital Media Zone.The Ryerson DMZ Fellowship program is offering six fellowships, valued at approximately Rs 595,000 each ($12,500 CDN), supporting the students for a four-month term in Toronto with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and innovation in the digital economy.
