CHENNAI: Keeping the promise which she made during a Christmas function last year at Arumanai in Kanyakumari district, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday announced financial assistance for Christians who undertake pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Making this announcement during a Christmas celebration at Laity Auditorium in Kilpauk, organised by the AIADMK, she said amid applause from the audience comprising Bishops and Pastors from various Churches, “The scheme will be applicable to all sections of the Christian community. Initially, this assistance will be given to 500 Christians this year.”Recalling that providing financial aid for Jerusalem pilgrimage would be one of the promises made by her last year when she celebrated Christmas at Arumanai in Kanyakumari district, she assured that she would fulfil other demands of the community soon.
