The police on Wednesday submitted a report before the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate that DySP Abdul Rasheed had not threatened Container Santhosh in connection with Unnithan murder attempt case.
The CBI had made Container Santhosh an approver in the case and a chargesheet was filed on the basis of submission made by him.
Following this, Kollam police had started an investigation whether Rasheed had threatened Santhosh. The call details of Santhosh and a friend of him, who is a witness in the case, between 8.45 am 10 pm on July 23, 2011, were submitted before the court. Earlier, Santhosh had submitted that Rasheed had threatened him on the same day.
After examining the mobile tower locations, the police found that Rasheed and container Santhosh were at different places on the same day.
However, on certain occasions, the cell phone signals of Santhosh and Rasheed were received from the Beach Road tower on the day.
Santhosh had talked with his friend several times on the day. But the witness’ mobile signals were from Polaythodu tower.
On this basis, the police submitted that the witness’ statements were not authentic.
