CHENNAI: The Cyber Crime cell of the city police is investigating an e-mail warning that a bomb would go off at the Chief Minister’s residence here, the Meenakshi temple in Madurai and Andal temple in Srivilliputhur. A senior police official told Express that the e-mail received by the Virudhunagar police was forwarded to the city police. The message, written in English, contained a name, cell phone number and a Thane district (Maharashtra) address, and claimed that the person mentioned in the mail intended to carry out the attack. “It appears to be a bid to implicate that person,” the officer said. The message ended with a challenge to the police: “Catch me if you can,” sources said. The officer said a requisition had been made to Google mail for the e-mail ID of the sender in order to trace the IP address, which will help in zeroing on the place from where it originated. “In a day or so, we will be able to trace it,” he said.
