New Delhi: Bollywood actors Richa Chadha and Nikhil Dwivedi, who are playing absconded inmates in their upcoming film 'Tamanchey', today visited Tihar jail and interacted with the inmates here on the occasion of Eid.
The duo came to the jail on request of the jail authorities to make the occasion of Eid special for the
inmates of jail number one here. Tihar jail's music band also performed with the stars. "The kind of creativity you display in such circumstances, is a source of inspiration for artists like us. We'll keep entertaining you at our best and we hope all of you get out of here as soon as possible," Richa said.
The duo also gifted the music CD of 'Tamanchey' to the Tihar music band. Tihar jail DIG Mukesh Prasad, Jail superintendent Rajesh Chauhan and other senior officials were also present during the event.
Thanking the stars for their kind gesture and for accepting the invitation to be a part of the Eid celebrations in Tihar jail, Jail superintendent Rajesh Chauhan said, "We welcome these artists here today who have come all the way form Mumbai on our request." Tihar jail DIG Mukesh Prsad also thanked the actors and appreciated the enthusiasm of the inmates on the occasion. "It was an attempt to reduce the depression among the inmates and the dullness in their lives. These events help in creating a better, positive and joyous environment for the inmates," Chauhan said.
Nikhil, who is playing the male lead in the 'Tamanchey' said, "We would look forward to visit this amazing place again, but we hope we don't see all of you here again. We pray to god that you get back with your families as soon as possible. It is easy to portray life of an inmate on screen but I can feel how difficult it is for you people to stay away from your loved ones."
DIG Mukesh Prasad and jail superintendent Rajesh Chuhan also felicitated the stars with Tihar jail memento.
