THRISSUR: The red volunteers have thronged the city as the district meet of the CPM began on Sunday at the Thekkinkad Ground. Thousands of cadre marched the street around the Swaraj Round carrying the torch to the venue of the torchlight tour conclusion ceremony. The traffic in the city was halted for hours. Politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan inaugurated the conference at Tagore Centenary Hall. The delegates’ meet followed thereafter. Nearly 376 delegates are participating in the meet. A red volunteer rally consisting one lakh people will be held on Wednesday, as part of the conclusion of the meet. Various seminars and a historical exhibition on world Communism are being organised as part of the conference.P K Sreemathi, Paloli Muhammedkutty, A Vijayaraghavan, E P Jayarajan, Dakshinamoorthy, A K Balan and T Sivadasa Menon are expected to participate in the conference.
