Dalai Lama discharged from the hospital
He underwent a gall bladder surgery at a hospital in Delhi.

New Delhi: Exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, who underwent a gall bladder surgery at a hospital in Indian capital, New Delhi was discharged on Thursday (October 16).

The Dalai Lama underwent successful surgery in a hospital in the Indian capital New Delhi for removal of gallstones on Friday (October 10).

A smiling Dalai Lama waved to the people and said that the operation was successful.

"The treatment very very successful. Now I am returning, so I want to express my experienced doctor Chowbey as well as all his member of teams and including nurses and all those concerned people," said Dalai Lama.

Pradeep Chowbey, Dalai Lama's doctor said that the Tibetan spiritual; leader is hale and hearty.

"Today morning he was discharged from the hospital hale and hearty, he is in very good spirit and very happy to have had his surgery done here and he is a person now cured of all his problems," said Chowbey.

The Dalai Lama had earlier also complained of abdominal discomfort in August and was admitted briefly to a Mumbai hospital for treatment.

Doctors had earlier advised the globetrotting Dalai Lama to cut down on long travels and have more rest.

U.S. President George W. Bush had called to inquire about his health last month after the Nobel Peace Prize winner cancelled visits to Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

At his public discourses in the past the Dalai Lama has been routinely speaking for three to four hours, cheerfully answering questions from followers and admirers.

The Dalai Lama has called a special meeting of Tibetan exiles in next two months to discuss this year's political unrest in Tibet and the future of the Tibetan movement.
