New Delhi: Illusionist David Blaine's latest crazy stunt will force him under water for a week.
Blaine, who spent 44 days starving in a glass box in 2003, will be submerged in a water-filled container in New York.
The 33-year-old will use specially created 'life-lines' which will provide him with nutrition and air to stay alive.
After the week is over, Blaine will remove his air supply and attempt to break the world record for holding his breath - currently set at eight minutes 58 seconds.
There will be a two-way audio link in the tank allowing the media to interview him throughout the challenge.
The magician will enter the 2.5 metre-high water-filled sphere based at the Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts on May 1.
Fans have been encouraged to "visit, touch the sphere and offer words of support".
Blaine is hoping the New Yorkers are friendlier than the crowds who pelted eggs and golf balls at him when he was suspended in a glass box by the River Thames, in London.
A spokesman for Blaine said, "Anytime he's done anything in New York, the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. New Yorkers are cool about this thing."
Blaine is currently in the Cayman Islands training for the stunt. His last feat in New York saw him sealed in an ice block in Times Square for 62 hours.
