New Delhi: Deborah and T Manorama Devi, the medal winners at the Asian Junior Cycling Championships here, will lead the eight-member Indian contingent at the UCI World Junior Championships which begins in Glasgow on Wednesday.
All team members will be taking part in the Championships for the first time and compete across sprint disciplines such as time trial, individual pursuit, scratch race, point race, keirin, team sprint and team pursuit.
Deborah, who won three medals in the Asian event in March and Manorama, who won a silver, are the only ones expected to spring a surprise.
The team will miss the services of coach Ruma Chatterjee, who was killed in a road accident in June.
Around 400 cyclists from 30 countries are participating in the event. The Indian team left for the competition on Monday.
