The Ganjam administration on Wednesday set up a cell to ensure proper and effective enforcement of laws and crackdown on law-breakers.
The cell under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate Nirmal Chandra Mishra would coordinate with various departments and monitor the enforcement effectively. Police have agreed to extend the cooperation to the departments to conduct raids.
The cell will coordinate and monitor raids on illegal liquor units, illegal clinics, mining, encroachment of roads and keep a tab on crime incidents in the area.
“It will be a coordinated effort by the different departments to ensure effective enforcement to crackdown on offenders,” said District Collector Krishan Kumar. The Collector would review enforcement in different departments every fortnight. He has also directed officials of all departments to form their own squads and submit reports to him every week on their enforcement activities. The administration would take up the issue with the appropriate forum of the government to take action against the offenders.
People can lodge their complaints before the cell telephonically or in writing.
