New Delhi: To provide seamless connectivity for convenience of its commuters, Delhi Metro will construct extra long foot over bridges (FOB) and ramps in six of its seven interchange stations on Mukundpur Shiv Vihar corridor.
The interchange stations on the 56-km corridor, which will be the longest in the Delhi Metro network, will be Azadpur, Netaji Subhas Place, Rajouri Garden, Mayur Vihar 1, Karkarduma, Anand Vihar and Welcome.
"At Anand Vihar, the new station will be adjacent to the operational one and in the remaining stations, FOBs and ramps will be constructed," a DMRC spokesperson said. The length of the FOBs and ramps will range from approximately 70 metres to 200 metres.
"Due to constraints such as the inadequate availability of land near the existing stations and the direction of the alignment, it was very difficult to connect the new stations with the already operational ones," he said. "However, DMRC engineers have designed these FOBs and ramps which will connect the new and the old stations," he said.
Lifts and escalators will also be provided in these FOBs and ramps wherever required and the connectivity will be from concourse to concourse.
