ANANTAPUR: Police foiled Rapthadu TDP MLA Paritala Sunita’s attempt to stage a demonstration near Ambedkar’s statue opposite the zilla parishad office here on Wednesday demanding a fresh CBI probe into the alleged role of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the killing of her husband Paritala Ravi. Police denied her permission to stage one-day Shanthi Deeksha. With prohibitory orders in force in the town in view of the byelections, police did not allow her dharna and arrested her. When Sunita reached her party office in the morning police told her that there was no permission for her to stage a protest near the statue and if she wanted to stage a dharna she could do it only on the premises of the TDP office. Protesting against denial of permission, she, along with her followers, staged a sit-in on the road in front of the party office. TDP MLAs Kaluva Srinivasulu, P Raghunath Reddy, BK Parthasarathy, Kandikunta Prasad and Payavula Kesav, leaders K Srinivasulu, V Prabhakar Chowdary, V Ha n uma n t h a r a y a Chowdary, Nadim Ahmed, Buggaiah Chowdary and P Samanthakamani, and Sunita’s son Hari joined her in the protest. As vehicular traffic on the road came to a halt, police rushed to the spot and asked her to call off the dharna. With Sunita remaining adamant on staging Shanti Deeksha, police arrested her and took her to the Two Town police station. In an expression of solidarity scores of her followers went to the police station, creating a tense atmosphere there. Heated arguments took place again between TDP leaders and police officials for nearly an hour. With higher officials informing the TDP leaders that in view of the byelections they would not allow such demonstrations and requested them to cooperate with the police. Finding reason, the TDP leaders relented and dispersed. Later, Sunita was released on personal bail. Speaking to mediapersons before her arrest, she said new facts would come to light if the CBI reinvestigated Paritala Ravi’s murder. She alleged that YS Rajasekhara Reddy had harassed Ravi and plotted, along with his son, her husband’s murder. She said Jagan had used Mangali Krishna to send money to Maddelacheruvu Suri. With Suri murdered and killer Bhanu behind the bars, new facts would emerge, she said.
