Two Maoists, including a woman, surrendered before the police in the Naxal-hit Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, the police said. The ultras from Mad region in south Bastar fled from their camp on Tuesday early morning and surrendered as they were disappointed by the alleged high-handedness of senior cadres, Narayanpur Additional Superintendent of Police O P Sharma told PTI in Raipur on Tuesday.
The duo, identified as Joga Naresh Markam (28) and the female cadre- Fagni Mandavi (35), were the local commander rank cadres of Mad region. "The reason cited by them for leaving the movement was exploitation of lower rank cadres by the seniors," he said. They will be rehabilitated as per the policies of the state government, he added.
According to the sources, the duo was active in Abhujmad region, considered as the stronghold of Naxals, and were involved in several crimes, including loot, arson and attacks on policemen.
