KOCHI: The traffic went haywire on MG Road on Friday owing to the regulation of the movement of vehicles as part of the agitations against the hike in the price of petrol and the diversion of vehicles in view of the demolition of the side bay of the North Overbridge (RoB).The passengers to the Menaka Junction had a tough time as the vehicles coming from the Thoppumpady-side were diverted through the MG Road. The vehicles scheduled to go through the Menaka to High Court were not allowed to take the left turn from Ravipuram owing to the agitation near the High Court Junction. The passengers who wanted to go to the Menaka Junction were forced to alight at various points on M G Road.Owing to the traffic diversion, the number of vehicles on the M G Road increased manifold and the vehicles moved at a snail’s pace for hours altogether.A private bus, which was scheduled to take the Jetty- Menaka route, took around one hour to reach Kaloor from Ravipuram Junction, said Kesavan, a regular passenger on the route. It had to change its route and plied on M G Road as directed by the traffic police, he said.
