MADURAI: Police on Saturday arrested Minnal Kodi, a loan shark and a DMK functionary, in a land grabbing case here. According to police, the accused had been usurping the property of the borrowers to whom he would have lent money at exorbitant rates.Minnal Kodi, in the current case, had fabricated documents as if he was the power of attorney for the lands to the extent of 1.84 acres owned by one Murugan from Usilampatti near Y Othakadai. Minnal Kodi had pasted the photograph of Murugan in the document and had forged his signature during registration of the power of attorney. Later, the accused sold the land to one Saravanakumar of Tallakulam, for `40 lakh in 2007, according to the complaint lodged on August 8.Minnal Kodi, his accomplices Pottukaran, and Document writer Vijayakumar were arrested.
