BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, while assuring the Opposition members to initiate investigations following media reports over the alleged misappropriation of funds in the supply of nutrition food to children in Anganawadis, rejected the demand for a house committee probe. He was reacting to Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah’s demand for a house committee probe into the alleged misuse of official funds.“A media report dose not warrant a house committee probe; let us study the matter before taking any further decision,” the chief minister said.He also assured that he would look into the process where a Tamil Nadu-based company was awarded the contract to supply the nutritional food packets.Earlier, Women and Child Welfare Minister C C Patil informed that the state government has initiated measures to serve the nutrition food to children in anganawadis as per the directions of the Supreme Court. He added that the state government was spending over Rs 550 crore per annually for serving the food at Rs 4 per child.“We have appealed to the Union government to release additional funds for the effective implementation of the programme,” Patil sought to explain to members of the Assembly.
