PUDUCHERRY: Congress workers led by former municipal councillor Arumugham were arrested when they staged road roko on Mathur Road, Kalapet, demanding action against Education Minister PNL Kalyanasundaram for allegedly using a proxy to write his X supplementary examination.The minister who dropped out of school after failing in two subjects, Science and Social sciences in 1991, took the supplementary exam at a private school in Tindivanam, Villupuram district, on Thursday. He wanted to clear the examination after becoming minister. However, allegations surfaced about his absence in the examination hall and him using a proxy.Congress workers seized the opportunity to come out against the minister and staged road roko. As 144 was already under promulgation, the entire group was taken into custody for unlawful assembly.
