Elephant trampled Mahout to death during marriage function

An elephant trampled its mahavat to death in a village in Bihar's Saran district, police said on Monday. The incident took place at Samhauta village during a marriage function late on Sunday night as an elephant apparently in 'musth' went wild and crushed its mahavat (trainer) to death, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Satya Prakash said.

The body of the unidentified mahavat has been sent for post-mortem, he said. The forest guards later caught the elephant, Prakash said.
