A tailor stabbed his father with a pair of textile scissors and killed him in a fit of rage, after the latter refused to give him money. The incident took place in Nehru Colony in Palavanthangal, on Monday afternoon.
According to the Palavanthangal Police, Shankar (37), who had been working as a tailor, asked his aged father Balakrishnan (74) for some money — something that he had worked up to a habit ever since his wife left him a few years ago. Balakrishnan, who had been working as a night watchman ever since he retired, had indulged him occasionally, but refused on Monday.
In what the cops describe as a ‘spurt of instant rage’, Shankar took a pair of scissors that he was working with and stabbed his father immediately.
The man bled to death and was found in a pool of blood. By the time he was found and given medical attention, he had died.
His distraught mother Jagadambal, filed a complaint with the police against her son, accusing him of the murder.
Palavanthal police began searching for Shankar. He was found in the area a little while later and police took him in for questioning.
He admitted to the cops that he had indeed committed the murder and he was charged with it, shortly after.
