The District Administration has forfeited the excess land in possession of self-styled godman Santhosh Madhavan and his friends on Monday.
In an official press release, the district administration has informed that about 115 acres of land spread over Puthenvelikara village in Ernakulam district and Madathumpady village in Thrissur district have been forfeited and attached to the government land bank.
Santhosh Madhavan and his business partner had acquired 131 acres of land spread over both the districts.
Later, the land was registered with a real estate group based in Bangalore. When the business group approached the Revenue Department for mutation of the land, the irregularities came to light.
According to the law only 15 acres of land can be owned and registered with a person.
