“Just because one has freedom, no one can act in a manner that will infringe upon the freedom and rights of others or indulge in usurping the livelihood of others or act in a manner which will disturb the general public. Whoever acts in such a manner, stern action will be taken against them in accordance with law,” Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa warned on Wednesday.
Jayalalithaa handed out this warning after hoisting the Tricolour at Fort St George on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Day celebrations.
“Everyone should have freedom. But the freedom should not exceed limits. By all means, dignity and discipline should be maintained. Only then, it can be termed as true freedom. The government headed by your sister is functioning with the objective to ensure true freedom to all and action will be taken against those who go against this,” the chief minister said.
In this regard, she also quoted a line from a popular film song of her political mentor M G Ramachandran, “Oru thavaru seidhaal, adhai therindhu seidhaal, avan thevan endraalum vidamaataen” (I will not spare even God if He indulges in wrongdoings advertently).
Vowing to make India a superpower and Tamil Nadu a prosperous State in the country, Jayalalithaa said she would continue to strive toward achieving these goals.
The Chief Minister appealed to the people to cooperate with her in discharging her duties.
“Remember it is not just that I am for you, but I am here because of you,” she added.
