Ex-Union minister Buta Singh's son held on bribery charge
Sarbjot Singh has been arrested by the Anti Corruption Branch of the CBI.

New Delhi: National Commission on Scheduled Castes Chairman and former union minister Buta Singh's son Sarbjot Singh 'Happy' has been arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the charges of allegedly taking bribe from a Nashik-based builder.

Sarbjot Singh was arrested by the Anti Corruption Branch of the CBI on Thursday evening and taken to investigating agency's Mumbai office.

He was arrested for allegedly accepting bribes from a Nashik-based builder to get his name cleared from cases filed against him allegedly on Buta Singh's orders.

The builder, Ram Rao Patil, is accused of having taken loan of Rs 10 crore from Sri Hari Bade Sir Cooperative Society based in Navi Mumbai against the names of 100 Dalit workers.

The cases against the builder were filed under Dalit Atrocities Act on Buta Singh's instructions during his visit to Nashik a couple of weeks back.

CNN-IBN had broken the story about how Ram Rao Patil had allegedly used his proximity to some National Congress Party leaders in the entire scam.

Charges against Patil are that he had cheated 100 workers, all Dalits of Nashik, of sums of money ranging from Rs 11. 5 lakh to Rs 17 lakh.
