SABARIMALA: The 10-day annual festival of Lord Ayyappa temple concluded with arattu on Thursday. The ceremony was conducted at the arattu kadavu in Pampa river near Ganapathi temple at 1.20 pm.  Thantri Kandararu Maheswararu performed the arattu along with Melsanthi G Balamurali by conducting rituals and poojas on the sreebali idol of Lord Ayyappa at the arattu kadavu witnessed by thousands of devotees. The ceremony concluded with performing the “aarathi” on the idol by the  thantri. Travancore Devaswom Board president M Rajagopalan Nair, members K Sicily and K V Padmanabhan, special commissioner S Jagadees, devaswom commissioner N Vasu, district collector P Venugopal, DSP K K Balachandran, Sabarimala Devaswom executive officer M Satheeshkumar and Pampa devaswom administrative officer Sajibabu were among those witnessed the ceremony. Earlier, the procession carrying the thidambu of Lord Ayyappa was taken out on caparisoned elephant from Sannidhanam at 9.45 a.m. The procession was accorded a reception in front of Pampa Anjaneya Auditorium by TDB president M Rajagopalan Nair and members.  After the reception, the sreebali idol of Lord Ayyappa, carried by Melsanthi Balamurali, was taken to the arattu kadavu. After the arattu, thousands of devotees offered paras in front of the sreebali idol of Lord Ayyappa.  The arattu return procession left Pampa at 4 p.m. and reached Sannidhanam at 7 p.m. The festival concluded after routine poojs, kodiyirakku and valiyakanikka. The temple was closed at 10 p.m. after athazha pooja and Harivarasanam.
