BANGALORE: The members of ‘India Against Corruption’ will organise various activities, as the country is about to celebrate its 64th Independence Day in a couple of days. On August 13, they are planning to clean up Yeswanthpur market, which will be done to create significance for the need to clean up the country from the shackles of corruption. On Independence Day, members of ‘India Against Corruption’ will spread Anna Hazare’s message across the country. On the same day, as a means of protest, they have requested the people of Karnataka to shut down all lights and electronic equipment of their homes and offices from 8 pm to 9 pm. On August 16, they are expecting people to come out from their respective homes and offices between 10 am and 11 am to promote the slogan ‘Awake, Arise and Stand up for India’. The team members are also planning to sing National Anthem all over Karnataka simultaneously which will be followed by a bike rally. Meanwhile, All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) has extended their wholehearted support to this movement. The 2.5 lakh officers of AIBOC, which is not affiliated to any political party condemned the corruption prevailing in the country, and in an intention to fight against it, has demanded severe actions on all corrupt officials. The confederation will also support the proposed hunger strike organised by Team ‘India Against Corruption’ at Freedom Park, on August 16. Shivanna, president, Devanahalli Taluk, along with the active members of Team ‘India Against Corruption’— Meenakshi Bharath, Yogesh Devaraj, Kundan Singh and Yogayya — addressed the media at the press conference. Kundan Singh said that they have been getting positive response from people all over the country and have conducted seven bike rallies so far. They will also lead a march from Bangalore to Delhi to create awareness among villagers for the introduction of Lokpal Bill. Yogesh Devaraj concluded by stating that this movement lead by Anna Hazare is capable of curbing the corruption level by 90 per cent in the country.
