MYSORE: A US citizen was on Monday stopped from having darshan at the Chamundeshwari Hill temple. It was only after the intervention of the police and temple authorities that the foreign national was allowed to enter the holy place.Sources said the incident occurred at around 11.30 am when Jeremiah Cox accompanied by his Hindu Indian wife, in-laws and two others entered the temple. While all others were allowed to have darshan, Jeremy was allegedly stopped by the temple guards. Cox’s father-in-law Raghavendra Rao complained to the policemen at the entrance, who took him to the temple office. He reportedly protested against the treatment meted out to his son-in-law. He complained to temple assistant administrative officer Linganna and even threatened to report the incident to the higher-ups. He said that his family was not only offended but also insulted by the incident. The officials then allowed Cox and his family into the temple for darshan and offered prasadam. AEO Linganna also garlanded Cox in an attempt to pacify the hurt family. Linganna told TNIE that the issue was solved amicably and the family returned home happy.
