Jammu: Four more persons have been slapped with the stringent Public Safety Act, raising the number of PSA detainees to nine in connection with the death of trucker Zahid Ahmed, who died after getting critically injured in a petrol bomb attack in Udhampur 10 days back.

"Four more persons have been booked under the PSA for criminal assault on a Kashmir-bound truck on 9th October 2015. Five persons were earlier booked under PSA," District Magistrate, Udhampur, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, said. With this, all nine accused involved in planning and execution of the criminal attack on the truck that later resulted into one person succumbing to burn injuries have been booked under PSA, he said.

Meanwhile, all the accused have been booked for murder under Section 302 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), applicable in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, as well, Choudhary said. "As one of the persons attacked in the incident succumbing to injuries the accused have been booked under Section 302 of RPC for murder," he said.

Also based on the PSA order passed by the district magistrate, all the nine accused have been shifted to Central Jail at Kot Bhalwal in Jammu, the DM said. Police had yesterday submitted a dossier to the district magistrate seeking detention of four more persons under the PSA.

Choudhary, after examining the dossier, facts and material produced on record regarding the instant case and criminal history of the accused issued warrants for detention of the persons involved in the attack case under the stringent law. The PSA detention order will be be further examined by the Board through home department, he said. Those booked under PSA include Jasbir Singh (27), Rahul Sharma (22), Suneet Singh (age not mentioned) and Rameshwar Singh (35).

All the accused were booked among other charges under the Explosives Substances Act. Five persons - Sandoor Singh, Danesh alias Pamma, Harish Singh Katoch, Balbahadur Singh alias Abbu and Varinder Singh alias Kaka - were booked yesterday under the PSA in connection with the attack on the truck.
